Teaching for almost 20 years, I’ve found that getting students to practice is the most challenging task. Instead of stressing about it, I’ve made it my goal to make it fun! Discipline, structure, and good technique are important and can co-exist with the enjoyment of it. Several of my students started out not practicing very much, if at all. By making it fun, they fell in love with the guitar. Some of them practice 3hr+ a day. No one has to remind them to do it, no one has to keep track of their progress. My students practice because they want to. Now that’s what I call practicing!
